Vani has extensive experience acting on behalf of numerous local and international clients in high-profile mergers and acquisitions, restrictive business practices and cartel-related matters. Her diverse client portfolio includes financial services, property, specialty chemicals, construction, steel, insurance, entertainment, petroleum and consumer goods. Vani has been extensively involved in the construction industry collusion investigations. In addition, she advised foreign policymakers on South Africa's competition law regime and has conducted competition law training for African countries. This includes acting for the main leniency applicant in the investigation into the South African construction industry, being one of the largest and most high profile investigations to date. This matter was also shortlisted by GCR for Behavioural matter of the year for the EMEA /Pacific region in 2016. I also advised Clariant and Huntsman in 2017 on the South African leg of the global $20 million merger which was eventually abandoned. I have an active domestic and international profile and am therefore able to combine South African competition expertise with global perspective and experience. I am among the leading lawyers listed over the years in The International Who's Who of Competition Lawyers & Economists, Chambers Global, Global Competition Review's "Top 100 Women in Antitrust" and PLC's Cross-Border Handbook.
